FAQ

What is the difference between Sunrise, Sunset and Midday sessions?

Sunrise: Experience the serene beauty of sunrise with soft, golden hues painting the sky, offering a tranquil backdrop for your shoot. Typically light, with soft cotton candy colors, accompanied by a bright light gold sunrise (rising around Diamond Head.) This is a nice time to get wide beach shots without having to worry about lots of people in the background. The ocean is less vibrant at this time due to the sun being so close to the horizon, however the lighting tends to be more flattering for close-ups and more forgiving for sensitive eyes.

Midday: Midday sessions embrace the vibrant energy of the beach, with crystal-clear waters and sun-kissed sands creating a lively atmosphere. Bright and Tropical Vibes resulting in beautiful Aqua waters - perfect for those wanting to show off "Hawaii postcard" vibes. Keep in mind beaches can be more crowded during this time (ESPECIALLY ON WEEKENDS) so creatively shooting can be a little hindered in certain directions. Not recommended for sun-sensitive folks or those with sensitive eyes. Sessions close to noon may result in lighting less flattering during this time for Close-Up photos.

Sunset: "Golden Hour" results in contrasty, golden lighting and typically a darker ocean, with the exception of where the sun is setting which will be bright and blown out until the sun draws near. Sunset casts a breathtaking glow, setting the stage for romantic and dramatic moments against the stunning horizon. Each sunset is unique, and each time brings its unique charm and ambiance to your Waikiki Beach photo shoot! Waikiki Beach is typically more busy during this time, so please keep that in mind.  Awesome time to shoot.

Which one Should I Choose?

If you want the romantic or magic of the sunset then go for that, if you're after tropical vibrant vibe then go mid-day and if you'd love a soft, beautiful, light and bright session (with an empty beach) go for the mornings.

Why are Sunrise/Sunsets and Weekends more expensive?

Not only are these sessions limited, sunrises require a very early morning for our shooters, while sunset requires the careful navigation around a very busy beach. Weekends are also limited, and the beaches tend to be much busier during this time as well!

Can I shoot somewhere other than Waikiki?

Sure! No problem. While we cater to Waikiki to make it easy for most staying on our beautiful island, we are happy to shoot anywhere else you'd like. We can make recommendations if you'd like. Please note locations outside of the greater Waikiki area will result in a travel fee.

What to Bring:

For your Waikiki beach photo shoot, it's essential to come prepared for fun in the sun! Here's what you'll want to bring along: Firstly, don't forget your sunscreen to keep your skin protected from Hawaii's tropical rays. A lightweight beach towel or blanket is handy for lounging between shots. Bring along a refreshing bottle of water to stay hydrated during your session. For those picture-perfect moments, consider bringing props like beach balls, colorful umbrellas, or even a picnic basket for added flair. If you're feeling adventurous, pack snorkeling gear or a beach frisbee for some extra beachside fun. Lastly, don't leave your sense of adventure behind – an open heart and a big smile are the most important things you can bring to capture the true essence of your Waikiki beach experience!

Additionally, please be mindful that you are responsible for your belongings during the shoot. While we'll do our best to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, it's important to keep track of your personal items throughout the session. With these considerations in mind, you're all set to create beautiful memories against the stunning backdrop of Waikiki Beach!

What to Wear:

When it comes to dressing for your Waikiki beach photo shoot, think breezy, beachy, and beautiful! Opt for lightweight, comfortable clothing that reflects the laid-back island vibe. Flowy dresses, linen shirts, and breathable fabrics are perfect choices to keep you cool under the Hawaiian sun. Embrace vibrant colors and tropical patterns that pop against the backdrop of the sand and sea. Barefoot or sandals are ideal for strolling along the shore, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. Don't forget your favorite sun hat, sunglasses, and accessories to add a touch of personality to your ensemble. Above all, choose attire that makes you feel confident and captures the essence of your beachside adventure in paradise!

Weather:

So, about the weather on Oahu – it's a bit of a character! You'll often see the forecast hinting at rain, especially up in the mountains. But don't fret if you're beach-bound! Waikiki and the beaches hardly see a drop, and when they do, it's usually just a quick  sprinkle passing through.

If it's a truly soggy day, we'll do our best to reschedule. But hey, here's a secret: some of our absolute best shots happen in the midst of weather. The added weather can add drama and excitement to your photos! And let's not forget those epic rainbows after a storm – talk about magic!
